Aleksei Dyomin was born in Moscow in 1956.
In 1978, he graduated from the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University, in 1987 – from the All-Union Institute of Press Workers.
Dyomin worked as an engineer at the Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIIMASH), as Head of the scientific and technical information department and Lead Designer of the computer laboratory at Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
His first works were published in 1985 by the newspapers Gudok and Golos Rodiny, the Russky Yazyk za Rubezhom magazine, and the Russkiy Yazyk Publishing House.
In 1992, Dyomin graduated from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors (workshop by Fyodor Khitruk and Eduard Nazarov).
In 1995, he made his debut with the film Attraction.
In 1997 and 2001, Dyomin taught a workshop at the Animation Film Atelier in Annecy (France).
His creative collaborators include directors Mikhail Schweitzer, Yuri Norshteyn, Andrey Khrzhanovsky, Aleksandr Tatarsky, Mikhail Aldashin, Natalya Orlova, artist Nikolai Serebryakov, composer Andrey Semenov, and others.
In his work, Dyomin has drawn inspiration from themes and stories of Goethe, Guy de Maupassant, Anton Chekhov, Vladislav Khodasevich, Yunna Moritz, Yuri Koval, David Dar, Sofia Milkina.
He is the co-author of the design concept of the KROK International Animated Film Festival (1998, 2000) and the Open Russian Festival of Animated Films in Tarusa (1996-2001).
From 2016 to 2019, Dyomin worked as a member of the editorial board (Y. Norshteyn, A. Khrzhanovsky) on the collection of works of Fyodor Khitruk My century (currently being prepared for publication).
Since 2004, Dyomin has been teaching at School-Studio SHAR.
Since 2011 – Head of the directing workshop at Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography.
Laureate of Russian and international festivals.
In most of the films, Dyomin takes on the roles of director, scriptwriter, production designer, and animator.
